Looking for a weekend (saturdays, sundays and occassional friday
evenings) Babysitter for two boys ages 5 and 8. Please call 827-1027.

I am from Porters Lake. I am currently a student at Dalhousie University and this upcoming summer I will be going with VESA- Volunteer Eco Students Abroad to South Africa to help with the major issues. I will be helping with teaching children in orphanages english and proper sanitation, providing cleaning, fresh drinking water, restoring schools, building farming units so families can make an income and working with the national parks for wildlife conservation. I was wondering if there was anyway this information along with my contact information could be put on the site or in the newsletter/ newspaper to spread awareness of the fundraising I will be doing. I need to raise $3500 for the trip and would love the help and support of the other people in the community. I know Porters Lake is a tight nit community and hope everyone will consider making a donation, helping with the fundraising or just giving support. If anyone does want to help fundraise, has fundraising ideas or wants to make a donation I can be reached at devisonj@hotmail.com or 469-4778. Thank you so much.

Considerable efforts have been made to obtain basic Transit services for our communities. Mr. David Hendsbee says the service will not change within the current area tax structure. Unless district 3 residents want to pay more taxes don't expect better service.
Meanwhile, Metro Transit forges ahead with proposals such as high-speed ferries, standardization of fare boxes in all buses and increased security in buses. In other words, instead of developing basic get-to-work services in outlying communities; they choose to modernize without vision. Metro Transit has produced another survey to assist in determining their priorities for future growth. You are encouraged to go to www.hrmlistens.com and complete the survey. Let them know you want service in your community and do give them suggestions and recommendations. Our local politicians may not be very interested in pushing basic transit service for HRM, but maybe if there is enough feedback directly to Metro Transit; they will listen
